2008 Fantasy Football Sleepers

When picking your sleepers for 2008 you have to consider a few things to make quality picks.  Here are a few keys to making good selection.

Draft Players that will be Starting

I know that sound redundant but the truth is some quality rookies even though they were good in college won’t get too many carries if they have a sound veteran in front of them. Other rookies that play for crapy team will get a bulk of the carries which can equal quality stats.  A good example is Darren McFadden for the Oakland Raiders.  They will run McFadden to death.  They are paying him a ton of money and Al Davis wants to see him play.  They have to run the ball because they have a young quarterback as well.

Draft Players That have quality Athletes Around Them

Marian Barber is a strong pick because he has players like Tony Romo and Terrell Ownes around him.  He will still score his Touchdowns either way but teams cannot focus just on him.  Especially when you are in a league were you get extra points for long TD’s.

Draft Players that are Durable

This sounds like an oxymoron but some players get hurt a lot while some even if they are hurt still end up playing.  Brain Westbrook is a great example.  He seems to be on the field even if he has a cast on.  I am not saying that he won’t get hurt this year but his quarterback, Donovan McNabb seems like he is hurt every second week.  Life in the NFL is not easy but you can find players that are more durable than others.  This is very important when you are drafting and you are undecided and like two different players on your pick.  Pick the one that is more durable and you will be happy in the end.
